classical geese

a fun, mid-winter commission piece. wish i could have spent longer developing the idea. this is sort of a fifties feel. but i like some of the color. it is sort of retro in a fun way.

Gorgeous piece, Joel! Don't know why you don't paint more! Or maybe you do but you don't put them on your blog....Wish it were winter here....we've been hitting the over 100's (Fahrenheit, natch :) ) for the past week....and not much relief in sight!

Wow! The painting looks amazing! I just loved the way the lake has been made to be there.

Hi Joel, as long as the commission piece was fun - what more could you want!
Love those feather soft washes - masterful!

pg! i have missed you so! we have moved house and i have been so busy. we are now living beside a lake whilst we redesign and re-build the new "matingara" studio.

nick canada is full of geese. you can have as many as you like. canada is also full of fabulous songwriters...

50's? perhaps the three fling fowl...much more reminiscent of an oriental aesthetic...almost feel the mountains of yunan calling me...
