Hi Joel, this piece is very striking and i especially like an apparent allusion to figuration in the large masses of light and shade - makes for an intriguing kind of 'bifurcation between abstraction and figuration' for me. great colours too! The fact that it's a full-sheet w/c makes me admire all the more the minimalist rendering of forms, and the convincing tonal relations of light in this piece,
hi..old chap...i really enjoyed 'cathedral'...it took me some moments to appreciate it was candles....i presume. the background mood adds a smokiness and a gothic feel. appropriate for the subject. i like it very much. as you say, very different from your more 'open' subjects. much more introverted and pensive. greg
