st. michael's in the snow

This is an alla prima piece. simple. three pigments. maybe four. yeah four. aureolin, maimeru blue violet, phthalo green and a touch of alizarin. from a distance it is actually photo-realistic. which is amazing considering the lack of detail. 15x22". a lot of fun.

i have another view of this scene which intrigues me even more.

and yes it is moist. The Dandenongs (by their very definition) are moist!

  3. The Dandenongs also have a reputation for burning.
    Don't they?
    Did you find Trevor Chamberlain?
I bought a book of his a few years ago. One of the best plien air watercolourists out there.

  4. Hello Dake,

Yes, the Dandenongs do have a reputation for burning. This past weekend showed however that many other places also now have that reputation.
