This is an alla prima piece. simple. three pigments. maybe four. yeah four. aureolin, maimeru blue violet, phthalo green and a touch of alizarin. from a distance it is actually photo-realistic. which is amazing considering the lack of detail. 15x22". a lot of fun.
Nice moist atmostphere, has a Trevor Chamberlain quality to it.
ReplyDeletehee. need to look up Trevor Chamberlain.
ReplyDeletei have another view of this scene which intrigues me even more.
and yes it is moist. The Dandenongs (by their very definition) are moist!
The Dandenongs also have a reputation for burning.
ReplyDeleteDon't they?
Did you find Trevor Chamberlain?
I bought a book of his a few years ago. One of the best plien air watercolourists out there.
Hello Dake,
ReplyDeleteYes, the Dandenongs do have a reputation for burning. This past weekend showed however that many other places also now have that reputation.
